Promark was founded in 1957 by Herb Brochstein; drum teacher and drum shop owner. They were the first to introduce Japanese Shira Kashi white oak into the American market, and the only company to successfully market oak sticks in the United States. This is accomplished through the use of unendangered wood, carefully harvesting of oak from the forests of Japan. And each tree is aged between 60-120 years before it is cut and manufactured into drum sticks and mallets. Today, Pro-Mark products are exported to over 100 countries, and can be found in virtually every music store in the world.
